Full Job Description

Our Prudhoe Mill sits on our largest UK site and produces famous household products such as Velvet and Cushelle. Making paper and converting it into the final product all takes place on site, and as the town's biggest employer, the Prudhoe Mill plays an important role in helping the local community to thrive. You will bring with you experience of PLC's, either Siemens or Allen Bradley controlled equipment, servo invertor drives together with a 'fix it for good' mentality. You will also need to be comfortable in working with large scale plant and machinery and have a passion for safety. The Technician is responsible for defined maintenance activities in the Converting Production area. The role maintains the machines based on preventive and predictive maintenance concept. It is responsible for troubleshooting technical problems and solving these problems using the Daily Direction Setting approach & Root cause analysis. The technician supports and coaches the Shift E&I / Colleagues in handling technical issues. At Essity we work towards a zero-breakdown and zero-stop-mentality and reducing the maintenance costs including working capital reduction for spare parts. You will take ownership for the key maintenance measurables such as breakdowns and has a strong service-department mind set towards the operations/ other departments. You will perform high quality Root-cause analysis for technical, process problems, TPM and Gap Analysis to check that your work is effective, value adding and contributing to your department's results. You will suggest and implement improvements (eg: safety, technology, process) and assure legal compliance on maintenance works.

  • Proven Electrical experience in a heavy industry, manufacturing or process environment
  • A recognised electrical or electrical engineering apprenticeship preferably with a City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ qualification
  • Proven experience in maintaining complex automated manufacturing systems and equipment.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skill, able to plan and work to tight timelines while managing several tasks
  • Experience of PLC, Networks, Human Machine Interfaces & AC/DC Drive systems.
  • Experience in panel wiring & safe practices.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation
  • Knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic components
  • Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
  • HNC level qualification
  • High Voltage experience
  • Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPS) Licence
  • Experience in coaching / mentoring colleagues
