Full Job Description
The Technician provides technical support on Wiltshire Creative's productions and events across two main sites (Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Arts Centre) and at other venues where required. The role supports the Production and Technical Department in the running of live performances, including lighting, sound, rigging and scenery. Some experience is essential but the role will allow for training and development. Hours will be variable on a rota basis and will include evening and weekend work., General

- To be flexible and to undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by Management Production
- To undertake any technical work related to productions, as directed by the Technical Manager or Production and Technical Director, including fitting up and getting out scenery, rigging, focusing and programming lighting, sound and video equipment.
- To undertake show duties, including operating sound, lighting, counterweight flying or work on stage as required.
- To furnish rehearsals with appropriate lighting/sound/scenery.
- To support creative teams for all productions presented by Wiltshire Creative.
- To be prepared to create lighting / sound / projection designs for in-house productions if required.
- To provide technical support for hire events and external events as required. Departmental
- To support the Technical Manager and Senior Technicians in the effective management of all technical areas.
- To take an active role in the maintenance of the company's technical equipment including regular PAT testing.
- To participate in the technical department's administrative systems, as required.
- To ensure the smooth running of all technical aspects of the organisation's day to day operation as directed by the Technical Manager.
- To assist with facilities and building maintenance when required. Statutory Requirements
- To ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and statutory regulations, ensuring that performance areas are safe.
- To undertake First Aid training, and any additional Health and Safety training as required for the job.
- To keep up to date with changes in legislation and industry best practice.
A minimum of one year's experience as a Stage Technician, preferably in a producing theatre - Knowledge and practice in technical areas including lighting, sound, staging, rigging and counterweight flying
- Experience of maintaining technical equipment including PAT testing
- Experience of manual handling and lifting
- A good team worker, committed and self-motivated
- A willingness to learn new skills and work in all technical areas
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic stage carpentry skills and working experience of scenic fit ups
- The ability to remain calm, positive and professional when working under pressure
- Awareness of Health and Safety practice and procedures
- Flexible approach to working and the ability to work unsocial hours
- Commitment to achieving high standards with the resources available
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office
