Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an Officer with a basic level of Street Lighting experience. We are delivering an LED retrofit programme across the borough and this will continue during next financial year. The post holder will assist with the delivery programme and with lighting and highway maintenance in the future., Working as part of the Network Asset Maintenance team you will be involved in the following:

  • Street Lighting improvements and maintenance
  • Town and other shopping centre lighting schemes
  • Lighting on new housing & commercial development schemes
  • Illumination of structures
  • GIS mapping
  • Systems and software we are using:
  • Pecos / SAP (financial)
  • Applications: Lighting Reality, AutoCAD,
  • Mapping Information: QGIS
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Brightly Software, Confirm / Confirm mobile (asset management system)

    We are looking for applicants who are interested in Street Lighting and have a willingness to learn new skills and develop their knowledge in this area. The role will involve working with other members of the Street Lighting & Highway maintenance team and generally exhibit the following qualities:
  • Have a basic understanding of the Street Lighting design and scheme delivery process
  • Ability to liaise with Contractors and Utility companies
  • Develop and maintain accurate records
  • Respond effectively to enquiries and complaints
  • Have a basic understanding of lighting and sign design specifications and the type of materials used
  • Experience of working with a GIS system
  • Check invoices and back-up sheets from contractors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
