The specific responsibilities of the Technology Consultant will vary from client to client, but will typically focus on resolving business problems through the design of technology strategies and architecture, delivery of enterprise applications and digital solutions, and operating model design, often with a focus providing M&A related support.

A look into the role

As an Manager, Technology Consulting within our team practice, you will:

  • Assessing technology needs and requirements. This can include assessing both internal needs to support employee activities, as well as customer-facing elements, helping clients build on their existing technology portfolio to reduce complexity, enhance functionality, generate new revenue and reduce costs.

  • Examining business and IT capabilities. In addition to understanding target business outcomes and understanding the demand for technology, our Technology Consultants analyse our client's current IT capabilities. This can involve highly technical assessments of application functionality, data architecture and platform technologies. Our Technology Consultants examine these elements of an organisation's IT landscape to fully understand their client's target capability and co-create technology roadmaps.

  • Providing technology advice and guidance. Our Technology Consultants work closely with our client leadership team, to provide recommendations and guidance on technologies, services, and systems. This guidance can range from defining technology strategies, guiding clients through the selection of new solutions, to implementing entirely new systems to address the organisation's current and future IT needs.

  • Improving process and operational efficiency. Our Technology Consultants identify and utilise methods to improve current processes and uses of technology to better align them with business goals in a drive to improve operational efficiency, reduce cost and support further growth.

    Analytical skills -strong assessment and analysis skills such that the consultant can analyse an organisation's current technologies and needs to make recommendations and provide guidance.

  • Business strategy - to successfully guide IT decision-making, our technology consultants require a strong sense of business strategy and a high level of familiarity with strategic planning frameworks.

  • Digital technologies, operating model and transformation - our consultants require an understanding and proficiency in guiding our clients through the scoping, planning and iterative delivery of initiatives as part of a broader transformation agenda.

  • Market expertise - our technology consultants are required to have a broad understand our clients' industries and be able to identify ways that technology can impact market share and create a competitive edge.

  • Problem-solving skills - our technology consultants are required to be exceptional problem-solvers, able to assess a client's current shortfalls and devise creative and technical solutions to address these issues.

  • Communication skills - our technology consultants require strong written and verbal communication skills, since they are required to interact with personnel throughout all levels of our clients' organisation and frequently work with C-suite leaders
