GKN's Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Filton, Bristol is a £32m state of the art technology research and manufacturing process development facility which is a hub for world-class innovative technology for the next generation of fuel-efficient aircraft. It includes a collaborative space for research and development with universities, the UK's CATAPULT network and GKN Aerospace's UK supply chain, to help strengthen aerospace technology and support the UK's Industrial strategy. As a key member of our Hydrogen Project Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting day-to-day project management activities. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and overseeing the control and monitoring of project progress, scope, costs, and resource management within the GKN program team based in the UK, as well as its external partners. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers and technology experts specialising in hydrogen systems, ensuring the smooth execution of project milestones. This position requires at least 3 days per week working from the office.How You'll Contribute

  • Compile and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and schedules/plans for the projects in the UK
  • Drumbeat the teams' progress against schedules and costs
  • Monitor the interdependencies between technical teams across the project
  • Develop, maintain and monitor partner and supply chain activities
  • Analyze and report on progress, scope, costs against the baseline and monitor resource management for the project
  • Proactively identify areas for management attention
  • Support in developing recovery plans where deviations demand so
  • Prepare project stakeholders communication, internally and work with the finance team to prepare governmental reporting;
  • Facilitate Risk and Opportunity Management activities, owning the risk register to control and mitigate the risk exposure of the project
  • Establish and maintain robust document management in the project and towards stakeholders
  • Support creation, coordination and delivery of (change) proposals for management or stakeholders
  • Manage project updates in applicable compilation systems and tools
  • Maintain the project action log and support timely closure of the tasks
  • Facilitate the change control process of the project and maintain the change log
  • Co-ordinate purchase order request activities, pulling together inputs from technical team and driving through to formal approval and guiding new suppliers through the registration process
  • Support team supplier management post purchase order, including tracking of deliveries and ensuring timely goods receipt actions from item owners.

    Proven experience in supporting complex technical projects in an industrial or technology environment
  • Experience building complex schedule with dependencies, identify critical path and manage change
  • APM PMQ or equivalent certification
  • Experienced in Project Management software tools (incl. MS Projects) and methodologies
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in developing Electrical machines and/or power electronics in a development environment
  • Experience of managing fast paced physical testing campaigns
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of Agile Project Management Methodologies

Flexibility is key, as they must be adaptable to new responsibilities and able to prioritise and manage time efficiently. Strong influencing skills are also essential to guide teams, align stakeholders, and drive the project to success.
