Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Technology Transfer Specialist to join the Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine. You will be making a significant contribution to the effective development and execution of bioprocesses for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant production of biologicals and vaccines, particularly the ChAdOx-vectored Junin vaccine. You will work with the Biological Process & Analytical Development (BiPAD) team and the Douglas Group on developing pre-GMP processes and transferring them to Professor Catherine Green's team at the Clinical BioManufacturing Facility (CBF) for GMP manufacturing of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs).

You will be responsible for liasing with and guiding researchers at the early stages of manufacturing process development to ensure process and materials are suitable for eventual GMP-compliant manufacture. You will introduce specialist scientific equipment, raw materials, and analytical assays into the CBF, enabling their future use in the GMP environment. Other responsibilities will include training the CBF team and other researchers on new equipment and processes, and also writing appropriate reports, risk assessments, and standard operating procedures to enable the implementation of improved and new methods.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a Bachelor's degree in the biological, medical or biomanufacturing sciences, with applicable experience and the ability to analyse and present scientific data, liaise with other scientists, write up reports and present data effectively. You will have experience in analytical assay development, optimisation, and outward tech transfer, and expertise in handling viruses and GMOs. You will also have excellent interpersonal and management skills, with experience in collaborative projects and supervising other staff, and be able to proactively contribute new ideas on more efficient ways of working and improving existing processes. You will also have the technical ability and experience with laboratory techniques related to bioprocessing, and assays including standard molecular biology techniques.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 2 years and is funded by CEPI and SpyBiotech.
