We are seeking a Temporary Works Engineer to join our Infrastructure rail team on a Secondment opportunity for 12 months to provide essential technical support for the construction of a variety of exciting projects. As a Temporary Works Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical aspects of construction, working under the supervision of a Senior Temporary Works Engineer (TWE). What you'll do:

  • Primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of temporary works solutions while maintaining an independent position from the delivery team.
  • Intervene when significant changes to construction methodology or sequencing occur, ensuring that safety and quality standards are upheld.
  • Be part of a dynamic team, helping to develop and promote the use of innovative, low-carbon engineering solutions for both temporary and permanent works. A strong focus on digital technologies, including 3D Design models, will be a key part of your role, supporting Skanska's Digital Journey.
  • Provide technical support for the construction of Skanska Infrastructure projects, with a focus on temporary works.
  • Maintain independence from the delivery team to provide unbiased judgment, particularly in cases of significant changes to methodology or sequencing.
  • Intervene to halt works when necessary due to issues such as excessive ground movements or impacts on permanent works.
  • Develop and promote high-quality, safe, and low-carbon engineering solutions.
  • Champion Skanska's Digital Journey by ensuring the use of 3D Design models for successful delivery.
  • Assist in the digital handover of completed projects.
  • Contribute to ensuring compliance with the project's Quality Assurance Process.
  • Maintain effective documentation control for all information and data related to the project.

    Currently working towards a professional qualification (e.g., Chartered or Incorporated Membership of the ICE or equivalent institution).
  • Engineering management (advantageous).
  • Design management (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with highways, rail, water, or energy sectors
  • Temporary works knowledge.
