Full Job Description

As our Test Automation Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts to ensure the quality and performance of software applications. This role involves working closely with the development and QA teams to create robust and scalable automated testing frameworks that streamline the testing process, reduce manual effort, and enhance the reliability and efficiency of software releases. The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for, as well as maintaining and extending the existing automation regression packs as well as ensuring Automation frameworks adhere to a test standard. They also manage the work delivered by 3rd party technical resources both Onsite and Offshore. Here's a bit more about what you'll be doing:

  • Create and maintain automated test scripts for various applications, ensuring they are efficient, reusable, and dependable using BDD/TDD methodologies within our deployment pipeline
  • Manage and keep the maintenance backlog for the team up to date for the Scrum Master, Project Manager or QA Delivery Managers to prioritise accordingly
  • Define the approach for addressing high priority functional areas not covered by automation for inclusion into the automated regression packs
  • Maintain and monitor test executions and report findings to your team and developers
  • Analyse results from daily regression executions and raise & track defects through to completion, whilst also supporting developers in product delivery
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities for defects that are detected through testing
  • Collaborate with Project / Product teams to ensure any planned changes to functionality are captured & developed into your automated test packs
  • Ensure all test artifacts are stored and accessible for future reference
  • Governance of offshore test resources on test activities to ensure quality standards are being met and adhered to e.g. code, process, results analysis
  • Allocate, support, and monitor work delivered by junior members of the team, and 3rd party suppliers, both Onsite and Offshore.
  • Perform code reviews with other Test Automation Engineers to ensure scripts adhere to test guidelines set out for that framework and provide constructive feedback
  • Validate the work produced by any external delivery partners (Onshore / Offshore) to ensure it meets the coding standards

    Demonstrable experience in automation testing, including the design, development, and execution of automated & manual tests scripts
  • Strong working knowledge of Selenium with NUnit & Object orientated programming
  • Has worked with BDD technologies such as Gherkin
  • Solid experience in at least one version control system e.g. Git, Jenkins
  • Experiencing using CI/CD automation driven tools e.g. Azure DevOps/TFS
  • Ability to execute & optimise database queries (Oracle SQL Developer or equivalent)
  • Experience of API-driven testing utilising tools such as Postman, SOAPUI
  • Knowledge of defect tracking/management systems such as JIRA, XRay Ability to interact with both technical & non-technical people, have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in C# programming in Visual Studio IDE
  • Previous experience in Automotive/Financial Services or retail consumer finance (B2C)
  • Experience with agile development methods & tooling such as SCRUM, Kanban & & Confluence
  • Exposure to non-functional test tooling - Performance, load, security

    We're offering a salary from £36,032 subject to experience and working 32 hours per week.
