Full Job Description

Our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation partner with a range of global customers, working closely with major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Wizz Air, Iberia, Vueling, Air Canada, Etihad and Qatar., Due to internal movement, we now have an opening for a Test and Investigation Finals Inspector to join our team in Gloucester! What will I be doing? In this role, you will be receiving landing gear for testing, repair & investigation. Carrying out fault diagnosis of test failures & sentencing components for repair. Disassembly & inspection of failed test landing gear, with application of remedial action to enable final assembly, test and re-certification. Working in accordance with OEM instructions as required;

  • Company signatory, releasing aircraft landing gear components in to service
  • Review lifing (back to birth information)
  • Raising of Build and Test layouts for assembly
  • Review of Customer Requirements
  • Creation of delivery reports
  • Working as part of a team with ability to disassemble, inspect, assemble and test complex landing gear assemblies
  • Preliminary inspection of landing gears & hydraulic units on receipt to determine LLP details, missing items and repairs required
  • Interpret and apply OEM work scopes to investigation landing gear
  • Read & interpret component maintenance manuals, drawings, engineering layouts and additions to the original design
  • Application of Service Bulletins, Service Letters and Airworthiness Directives
  • Working to the production plan and achieving on time delivery
  • Part of a short SPT production area requiring fast turnaround times under test and recertification work scopes
  • Liaison and interaction with OEM engineering personnel and execution of OEM defined work scopes
  • Support of team in disassembly of failed test units and subsequent inspection to return the unit to serviceability
  • Minor reworks such as hand salvage, blending damaged material, polishing will be required in conjunction with assessing parts/components for repair
  • Cross functional skill sets covering a wide range of tasks within the test and investigation team

    Engineering Apprenticeship, plus proven experience in an aviation environment or equivalent
  • Previous experience of landing gear maintenance
  • Inspection experience essential for role
  • Ability to interpret Component Maintenance Manuals, Technical Drawings & instructions
  • High level of dexterity with attention for detail
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools including precision measuring equipment
  • Understanding of electrical circuits
  • Excellent problem solver with root cause analyses skills and solution based thinking to overcome obstacles
  • Excellent computer skills
  • High levels of flexibility and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Self-managing
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Articulate, a high level of dexterity, integrity and excellent team working ethics
  • Must be willing to train and take on board new skills
  • An understanding of Lean Sigma disciplines and 5s principles
