About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and empower young minds to embrace the world of fashion, textiles, and design. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and stimulating D&T lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering students' creativity, technical skills, and understanding of design principles.,

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging D&T lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in line with the National Curriculum, with a focus on textiles techniques such as sewing, weaving, knitting, and surface design.
  • Foster a love of learning and encourage students to explore design and technology concepts with curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Develop and implement innovative curriculum initiatives that align with the school's vision and the latest advancements in D&T education.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and challenged to reach their full potential.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students, promoting a growth mindset and a belief in their design and making abilities.
  • Play an active role in the department, including contributing to curriculum development, assessment strategies, and departmental meetings.
  • Participate in whole-school events and initiatives, fostering a collaborative spirit and contributing to the wider school community.

    A qualified D&T Teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students and fostering their understanding of design and technology principles, particularly in textiles.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for D&T, with a strong understanding of design processes, textile materials, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong pedagogical skills with the ability to deliver innovative and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • A commitment to high standards and the ability to create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • A willingness to be part of a dynamic team and contribute to the ongoing development of the department.
