Full Job Description

We are looking for two Theatre assistants who will thrive in a fast-paced operating theatre environment. The successful candidates will be supporting all stages of the patients journey through theatre and will be an asset to supporting the theatre team.

Prior experience is not essential but a love for operating theatres is. All training will be provided. This role will provide the successful candidates with a work life balance as this theatre suite currently runs Monday to Friday and an on-call out of hours service.
As a Theatre Assistant you will provide assistance to all members of the Theatre team by supporting the registered staff in activities undertaken in the Operating Theatre environment. As a Theatre Assistant you will contribute as part of the Operating Theatre team to deliver and maintain high standards of patient care and will maintain cleanliness inside the theatre operating suite and the ancillary areas., + Collection and opening of instrument trays, packs etc.
+ Checking and dispensing of lotions.
+ Partaking in swab counts, checking, weighing and recording swabs, needles and instruments with the scrub practitioner.
+ Dispensing sterile gloves, tying gowns.
+ Assisting the scrub practitioner with collection, labelling, handling and dispatch of specimens for laboratory examination, including frozen sections.
+ Connecting diathermy and suction apparatus (and any other apparatus required in Theatres e.g. headlamps, power tools etc.)
+ Maintaining stock levels in the operating theatre, rotating stock and checking for out of date stock.
+ Ordering of certain disposable items. This may include specialised items (e.g. feeding tubes, drains etc., Applicants are invited to apply in Welsh. Any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.
