Previous experience in Theatres is desirable not essential as competency based in-house training will be provided.
It's an exciting time for the Theatres Department at UHCW; we are recruiting for our Ground Floor Theatres.
This covers 32 Operating Theatres and 2 Treatment Rooms.
Theatre areas offer you the opportunity to work in a varied selection of specialities including Orthopaedics, Plastics, Breast, Urology, Head and Neck, Urology, General, Multi-speciality Robotic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Renal, Obstetrics and Ophthalmology. As a Major Trauma centre, we cover all aspects of Trauma and Emergency surgery.
We carry out Cataract, Plastics and Pain Management Procedures as Day Case Surgery.
We are passionate about delivering the highest standard of Patient Centred care. We work closely with Surgical Speciality Groups to plan our lists and ensure maximum efficiency and utilisation . In recent years, our Theatres have achieved large gains in productivity and efficiency through improved capacity management and real-time tracking of Theatre activity., If successful you will be supported in your role whether you are Newly Qualified / New to Theatre or an experienced Theatre Practitioner. A Structured Induction Programme and ongoing training will ensure you gain the skills required .
We have vacancies in Anaesthetics, Scrub and Recovery and will offer support for you to develop competencies in more than one of these areas.

In addition we have a dedicated team of Theatre Clinical Educators who will support and guide you through the excellent range of opportunities that UHCW NHS Trust has to offer.
As a provider of patient-centred care, we are passionate about delivering excellent care to our local and extended population in the acute environment and in recent years, our theatres have achieved large gains in productivity and efficiency through improved capacity management and real-time tracking of theatre activity, 1. Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the peri-operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
2. Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
3. Maintain health, safety and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
4. Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies.
5. Prepare, monitor and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty.
6. Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
7. Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
8. Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
9. Depending on you level of exposure with patients you may be required to undertake a Standard or Enhanced DBS. The cost of this check will be charged to you and will be deducted from your salary over the first 3 months of employment at the current rate.
