Full Job Description
To undertake duties asanaesthetic practitioner / nurse. Providing sensitive and professional care atall times. This post will be for an anaesthetic practitioner but a requirementto move to scrub may be required. To act as a role model, demonstrate own activitiesto new / less experience employees. Liaise with the ward and other departments and allmembers of the multidisciplinary team in the care and treatment of patients. Provide holistic care utilising persuasive,empathic and reassurance skills where necessary from admission to discharge inthe department. Assess, plan and implement care of the patientseeking advice when required and taking appropriate action. To work within organisational policies, standard operatingprocedures and guidelines. To comply with health, safety and securityrequirements of self and others To contribute to the development of services andquality improvements The post holder will ensure they understand theirresponsibilities with regard to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. Main duties of the job Act as a skilled assistant tothe anaesthetist both in the theatre complex and outside department areaswherever needed. Clean and check complex and complicated anaestheticmachines and equipment as assigned, in accordance with the association ofanaesthetist guidelines, replacing consumables as required. Sourcing of specialised equipment from otherdepartments when required. Ensure any equipment or repair problems arenotified immediately to the Deputy Team Leader. Ensure that the area you are responsible for is ina permanent state of anaesthetic readiness Prepare, check, restock and be accountable forresuscitation equipment, emergency and specialist trolleys and equipment usedthroughout the hospital, ensuring that equipment is in date and in a permanentstate of readiness, to facilitate an effective and successful running of acritical incident. Participate as a member of both the on call adultand paediatric resuscitation team, obstetric teams and trauma team, beingrequired as an anaesthetic practitioner to work independently of yourfunctional group whilst working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Participate actively as part of the anaestheticteam during elective / emergency Labour Ward surgery. Participate actively on the trusts critical caretransfer team both from within the trust and patient intra-hospital transfersthroughout the UK., Please see the attached Job Description andPerson Specification for full details of the role and responsibilities
Experience Essential
- Must be a qualified practitioner, successfully completing our in house the competency package
- Experience working within an operating theatre Qualifications Essential Relevant post registration qualifications Desirable
- Mentorship qualification
- Teaching and assessing qualification knowledge Essential
- Understands the concepts of clinical governance
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective risk management
- Knowledge of current NHS issues including performance targets and the wider modernisation agenda
- Knowledge of NHS agendas and application to role
- NMC / HCPC Code of Conduct
- Ability to work within a team
- Able to use own initiative and meet deadlines, Registered Operating Department Practitioner with valid HCPC registration or Registered Nurse with current NMC registration must have anaesthetic qualification
