We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Band 6 Anaesthetic / Recovery Practitioner to join our Team in Day Surgery, based in Prince Philip Hospital. Our Day Surgery Team cover elective Day Surgery for a range of specialities including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology Dermatology; and regularly being allocated to work in our Ophthalmic Day Surgery Unit in Amman Valley Hospital. You will have the ability to support, teach and develop staff, facilitating in the delivery of high standards of care. The stand alone unit consists of 2 ultra clean Theatres, and 5 1st stage trolley spaces. You are required to communicate effectively with the Multidisciplinary Team supporting the Band 7's in the day to day leadership and management of the Unit. You must be a Registered Nurse or ODP who holds an accredited Anaesthetic course, recent proven Anaesthetic experience is essential and accredited advanced life support qualification. Main duties of the job We are looking for a flexible practitioner who delivers the highest standard of perioperative care to their patients and keen to develop their existing skills. With the motivation, vision and leadership to qualities necessary to support and develop theatre practitioners to facilitate excellent patient care in the operating Theatres. As a key member of the senior team, you will asses, plan, implement and evaluate the needs of patients in an ongoing basis, co-ordination the care given by all members of the Perioperative Team The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and / or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply., The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.   • RGN Level 1 or Registered Operating Departmental Practitioner
  • Specific clinical training / education related to theatre / recovery / anaesthetics
  • Evidence of Continued professional development to postgraduate diploma level
  • Expanded clinical nursing skills
  • Willing to undertake an in-house leadership development programme in next two years
  • Willing to undertake other training essential to role
  • Desirable
  • BSc (in health related subject) / willing to work toward
  • Certificate / diploma in orthopaedic or trauma nursing
  • Teaching and Assessing Module
  • Clinical Supervision Module
  • Recognised Critical Care Course / Module
  • Management / leadership Programme
  • Experience Essential
  • Post registration experience including experience in the relevant clinical field
  • Multi skilled competencies within the operating department
