Theatre Practitioner / Scrub Nurse - 37.5 hours per week We require professional, flexible, motivated and committed team members capable of delivering high quality, patient-focused care within a busy, progressive and varied department. Our Theatre service boasts 15 operating Theatres, 2 recovery areas, a Day Surgery Unit and a 23 hours unit. There are exciting improvement plans due to begin with the introduction of a new IT system and a full Theatre transformation project in which all staff working within the Theatres department will be pivotal to its success. General Theatres undertake a wide range of specialities in both the elective and emergency settings including Orthopaedic, Trauma, ENT, Breast, General Surgery and Urology. We currently have opportunities available for Theatre Practitioners within the following specialities - Orthopaedic Scrub
- PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY The post holder will be a NMC / HCPC registered practitioner or nurse who will assess, plan, implement and evaluate high quality, safe and compassionate care for patients in the perioperative setting. This care will be facilitated utilising evidence based perioperative standards, trust policies as well as local and national guidelines (e.g. NICE). The post holder will be expected to work with the perioperative multidisciplinary team (including Anaesthetists and Surgeons) to provide effective care within the Anaesthetics, Scrub and Post Anaesthetic care disciplines, in line with scope of practice and departmental need. The post holder will support the Theatre Leadership Team to ensure standards of practice and care quality are upheld; this includes acting as a role model, supporting the learning of others and contributing to the development and implementation of improvement ideas Internal development opportunities include; Leadership and Management Training Mental Health Training Fire Warden Training IOSH Training Open University Short courses (funding subject to demand/availability) Surgical First Assistant GWH is conveniently located just a mile off the M4 (Junction 15), and there is a bus service from the town centre and the station (every 15 minutes). Swindon is the perfect base to explore the Cotswolds, Bristol, Bath and Reading. London is easily accessible by train, bus or car.
