Full Job Description
The Theatre department is looking for a receptionist who will provide, high quality, patient-focused care to the Theatre Department.
Working in this role you will be part of our extensive multidisciplinary team and be a key contact for patients and visitors to the department. We are looking for someone who prides themselves on the customer care whilst displaying empathy and respect. We want to ensure that those who come to Theatres are greeted courteously and directly to the correct person.
You will be providing high quality administrative assistance to the department and support the team in achieving for Theatres. All training will be provided to equip you with the skills you will need to be successful within the role.
Main duties of the job
Provide a friendly and comprehensive reception service to all patients and staff visiting the department.
Maintain confidentiality in dealing with calls or visitors directly and ensuring to refer enquiries to the appropriate member of staff. Dealing with all enquiries as a first point of contact and referring to the appropriate person.
To deal efficiently and courteously with colleagues and all visitors at all times as per departmental standards. Visitors to the department include, staff from other areas, company representatives, visiting medical staff and patient relatives (some of whom, may be in a state of distress).
Forward any complaints / complex situations to the Theatre Manager / Team Leader or daily Theatre Co-ordinator.
To collate and distribute theatre lists effectively, liaising with secretaries and other administration staff. Provide an excellent communication system between relevant personnel, regarding any alterations or additions to operating lists. This may include the booking of emergencies.
To be responsible for accurately inputting data onto relevant databases and to collate data for the purpose of clinical audit.
Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team within the department, to help maintain patient flow through theatre.
Maintain appropriate access to the clinical area, overseeing visitor access and recording in the theatre visitor book.
Responsible for signing of delivery/collection service requisitions of medical equipment and informing relevant staff accordingly.
