Full Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join an exciting and creative department at Leicester College. Sue Townsend Theatre is part of Leicester College's Performing Arts and Music department and is used on a daily basis by students from our Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre and Music Performance courses as well as external hires in the evenings and weekends.

Based at the Sue Townsend Theatre, you will be responsible for the day to day running, management and maintenance of the specialist industry standard technical theatre equipment.

Your role will be to support the teaching staff across a wide range of courses and levels with preparations of resources - lighting, sound and set at the Theatre. The planning and ordering of materials and management of resources is integral to the role. You will have excellent communication skills and a 'can do' approach to tasks.

Experience of working with and supervising students would be beneficial. You will be required to support internal and commercial shows at Sue Townsend Theatre.

The successful applicant will, along with the front of house staff, be responsible for ensuring the building is well presented and prepared for performances and audiences. You will be able to support hirers individually, carrying out the technical requirements of each performance to ensure hirers receive an excellent experience during their time with us. This role will also undertake responsibilities to ensure that Health and Safety is always managed.

With a degree or equivalent industry experience, the successful candidate will work within the Performing Arts and Music technician team and be an innovative, organised and proactive team member.

Successful applicants must hold:

Level 2 English and Maths or the equivalent (e.g GCSE grade C or above, GCSE grade 4 or above)

Level 2 IT and/or equivalent Microsoft Word/Excel experience
