Full Job Description
The short stay surgical unit working alongside our surgical admissions lounge is a, fast turnover unit providing care to patients undergoing day surgery , covering all specialities : ENT, Orthopaedics, gynae and general surgery You will be responsible for coordinating patient care on the wards, completing thorough nursing assessments, patient feedback surveys, participating in audits, supervising Trainee Apprentices, Trainee CSW's, and students and acting as a role model; as well as supporting the ward manager with length of stay and delivering and improving the quality of care on the wards. You will be working closely with a large multidisciplinary team; good communication skills are essential to ensure the patient's journey from admission to discharge is smooth and efficient.
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic nurses who want to be part of a large highly skilled multi-disciplinary team delivering a high standard of care. You must be flexible, approachable, compassionate, motivated, and hardworking and be able to use your initiative whilst also having the ability to work under pressure. Post-registration experience in a surgical / acute setting is desirable., First level registered nurse registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council Desirable criteria
- ENB 998 Teaching and Assessing I Clinical Practice or willingness to undertake
- Willingness to undertake specialist course relevant to area Experience / Knowledge Essential criteria
- Is able to manage own workload and delegate to others
- Be able to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
- A working knowledge of the use of research in developing nursing care and clinical products
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the issues surrounding the scope of professional practice and accountability Desirable criteria
- Post registration experience
- Possess surgical experience
- Understanding of principles and processes involved in Clinical Governance Skills Essential criteria
- Possess a high standard of communication skills both written and oral
- Be able to effectively co- ordinate workload and liaise with multi-disciplinary team
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- To show enthusiasm, to develop new innovations and skills to enhance practice
- To possess good inter- personal skills Desirable criteria
- To possess relevant practical skills
