Full Job Description

The appointed applicant will work alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and also individually with patients under the guidance of qualified therapists.
They will be working across our inpatient Orthopaedics wards completing assessments of patients function to determine discharge planning with guidance from qualified Therapists. The role forms part of a team of generic support workers who currently work between the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams. Experience working within an acute, NHS team is desirable.
We are delighted to be able to offer patients the opportunity of assessment by the Therapy Team for discharge over the weekend and Bank Holidays and the post holders would be expected to participate in the 7-day working rota. This will involve working a full day at a weekend as part of the departmental rota.
We would welcome any interested persons contacting the department for a discussion or to arrange a visit prior to applying/ interview if shortlisted., This post involves working closely with our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists within the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards. The role includes information gathering from the patient or family member face to face or by telephone to gather a social and functional history. The post will also involve physical work to help patients regain their function and independence following both Traumatic and elective Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition you will be involved in equipment assessment and provision to enable a safe and effective discharge from the hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills with a team of friendly and dedicated therapists, who strive to provide the best possible care to patients who have been admitted to the wards at SaTH. You will work under supervision from the therapists, assisting them in patient treatments whilst also delivering some therapy programmes on your own.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, has excellent organisational and time management skills, enjoys working in a team and is dedicated to providing high quality patient care.
This role may include cross site working between PRH and RSH in light of the Hospital Transformation Programme.
