Full Job Description

  • Being proficient at interpreting the holy scriptures in the traditional and modern context and ensuring the interpretation is direct from the Guru's word or Gurbani.

    Applicant must be practicing Baptist Sikh and be fluent in reading holy Sikh texts to preach and conduct pastoral work and non-pastoral work.
    • The applicant must be able to perform Katha.,
  • Being able to include historical accounts and modern incidents in interpreting the holy scriptures.
  • Being able to articulate missionary preachers and be well-versed in Sikh history and religious traditions.
  • Helping the Sangat to deepen their knowledge of Sikhi using examples from bani and Sikh history.
    • Language: The successful applicant must be able to read and write in Punjabi and English (preferably)

    Guru Nanak Gurdwara (Leicester) is looking to appoint an Amritdhari Gur-Sikh Religious Worker (Kathakar).

    Please note: Food, accommodation, and laundry are provided by the Gurdwara under contract terms. The contract will be fixed for 2 years, the monthly salary will be £1,487.20, and worked hours will be 130 hours per month. The post will meet national minimum wage rules.
