Full Job Description

Guru Nanak Gurdwara (Leicester) is looking to appoint an Amritdhari Gur-Sikh Religious Worker (Raggi - Kirtani).

The applicant must be a practicing Baptist Sikh and fluent in reading Holy Sikh texts to preach and conduct pastoral and non-pastoral work.

Responsibilities of the post will include:-
- Be proficient at singing Gurbani (sacred Sikh hymns) according to the musical measures prescribed by Guru Granth Sahib.
- Being able to play musical instruments when singing Gurbani.
- Doing short translations of hymns in between singing for the benefit of the Sikh Sangat.
- Conducting religious services such as the Bani, Mahraaj Parkash, Shri Akhand Pathe, Shri Sukhmani Sahib Pathe, Hukamnama, Nitnem, Katha vachak, and others.
- Performing Ardass (prayer) and kirtan in the morning and evening.
- Administering rites of faith such as marriages and funerals.
- Overseeing the Sikh festive calendar, special events such as Gurpurabs, and other functions like Sangrand and serving the Langar.
- Provide spiritual and moral guidance to the members of the Sikh faith.
- Supervise, plan, and administer programs of religious education.

Language: The successful applicant must be able to read and write in Punjabi and English (preferably).

Please note: Food, accommodation, and laundry are provided by the Gurdwara under contract terms. The contract term will be a fixed term for 2 years, salary of £1,487.20 per month, and hours worked will be 130 hours per month. The post will meet national minimum wage rules.
