Full Job Description

Caterpillar Skinningrove Ltd. operates on a 24/7 basis. The Tooling Technician will be available respond to day to day issues, supporting the production team on tooling requirements. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 1. Manufacture and fitting of production tooling to tight tolerances 2. Responsible for the repair, maintenance and improvement of tools 3. Responsible for tool building and setting 4. Action machine tool changes during production 5. Use of and daily maintenance of all tool room equipment, for example surface grinders, hydraulic presses 6. Document any service and repair work 7. Provide expertise for troubleshooting and assistance to other issues 8. Ensure deliverables meet all quality and compliance standards 9. Participate in identifying areas of continuous improvement, focussing on cost and velocity and implementing necessary changes where appropriate 10. Manage specific projects within the areas of responsibility 11. Work closely with Operations team to identify areas of concern and equipment availability 12. Maintain detailed shift handover that ensures smooth transition between shifts 13. Work at heights using relevant safety equipment and PPE 14. Use measuring equipment including verniers, micro meters 15. Use of lifting equipment 16. Maintain a pro-active approach to health and safety 17. Any other reasonable duties as required

  • Qualifications/Training Required:
  • NVQ2 Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering or similar field, or qualified by experience
  • Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Proven experience in the use of hand tools and machinery relevant to tool making - Strong understanding of machining processes and principles - Ability to read engineering drawings - Ability to use a range of power and hand tools Desired Experience/Knowledge/Skills: - Ability to read engineering drawings - Hydraulic and mechanical experience - Truck driving licence (reach, counter balance, Jib) - Knowledge and proficient use of IT systems

    24/7 shift rotation, with pattern of working hours being 2 x 12 hour day shift (06:50 - 19:00), followed by 2 x 12 hour nightshift (18:50 - 07:00) followed by 4 days off., 291.75 hours per annum entitlement for holidays in total, Gainshare bonus scheme, Shift Premium, Share Scheme (50% Company Matched), Contributory Pension Scheme (Contribution double by Company up to 10%), Free Car Parking.
