Full Job Description

You will be responsible for planning, implementing and delivering tracheostomy education to patients, families, carers, community care providers and acute clinicians across the region. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who will proactively seek out service development opportunities to enhance patient care. This will include assisting with clinical reviews and highlighting trends in clinical instability which could be improved through enhanced training, education or community support.

Creativity is a must with the candidate leading on formatting, delivery and design of education to develop relationships with stakeholders and encourage maximum engagement. This will be delivered across a variety of different environments: patient homes, care homes, hospitals, hospices, GP practices and remotely so adaptability is essential to facilitate safe practice and promote high standard of care.

There will be involvement in the development of Standard Operating Procedures, guidelines and pathways to provide surrounding service delivery governance structures. Auditing and analysis of training provision will be expected to further guide role development and contribute to the overall service 'Annual Impact Report' which is presented to the Integrated Commissioning Board each year. This will provide the post holder with research and audit experience., Due to the geographical area covered by the service, we have adopted an interdisciplinary approach to ensure holistic care is delivered. You will work closely with each team member who will support with the development of any specialist areas and develop your own clinical competencies within their field of expertise. Ongoing CPD relevant to the role will be supported and encouraged.

Our service is dependent on open and honest communication to support with the autonomous nature of our roles. We are supportive of each other's development with adaptable flexibility to ensure team member wellbeing. There will be variety and variance each day however we would encourage to post holder to take charge of their own diary planning to meet the needs of the role and suit their working style. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Monday - Friday (09:00-17:00) working pattern with opportunities to develop and expand teaching, research, leadership, and clinical skills within this specialist field.

Due to the geographical area covered, access to a car for work purposes is essential. Whilst Royal Preston Hospital is classed as the service base, the current team members elect to work agilely when not undertaking clinical visits.

We are looking for a passionate Nurse or Allied Health Professional with at least 2-years post qualification experience within the field of tracheostomies to join our small team and lead on education and training provision across the region. The successful candidate must be highly skilled in all aspects of tracheostomy care including day-to-day care, weaning and secretion management.

We are a small, friendly team consisting of a Tracheostomy Consultant Practitioner (Nurse), Tracheostomy Specialist Practitioner (Physiotherapist), Tracheostomy Specialist Therapy Assistant and Tracheostomy Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.
