Full Job Description

Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products. The role holder will lead and inspire the Trade team including Head of Trade, Key Accounts, Trade Key Account Managers and the external trade sales team. The Trade Channel Director will be integral in the sales and marketing leadership team to develop and drive the strategic intent of the business. Managing and develop specified national and independent merchants, creating robust trading plans to drive profitable grow. Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director to drive the company strategy, grow profitable sales within the trade merchant and distribution network. Core areas of responsibility:

  • Lead and create strategic partnerships and trading plans across the Trade network.
  • Work with and lead the Trade sales team to build a robust sales pipeline, ensuring sales activities present continual and sustainable growth.
  • Represent and promote the Polypipe Building Products brand and culture.
  • Achieve the required targeted sales growth and profitability target as set by the business.
  • Work with Trade Key Account Managers and external trade sales team to facilitate the merchant network with installer "pull through"
  • Maintain and develop information platforms relating to Polypipe Building Products trade route to market.
  • Deliver technical training to educate merchant and distribution partners on all Polypipe Building Products and business tools both face to face and digitally.
  • Create and drive merchant sales opportunities and Brand visibility.
  • Ensure relevant product strategy within merchant network is adhered to and the Polypipe Building Products Brand is correctly represented within the designated accounts.
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to create and drive promotional activity whilst maintaining profitability targets Delivering presentations professionally, confidently, and effectively to new and prospective customers promoting Polypipe Building Products, services, and brand values.
  • Record all meeting objectives/outcomes and keep all customer details up to date via CRM making full use of the system by maximising its capability (pipeline management, reporting, diary management).
  • Provide robust return on investment rationale to qualify corporate hospitality expenditure (grow, defend, retain).
  • Complete required reporting to the business, promptly and with the required detail; as well as full utilisation of existing and upcoming BI systems, data, and insights to fuel compelling customer propositions and objective setting.
  • To manage the Areas 'Corporate Hospitality' budget effectively and in line with the Company's expenses policy, to maximise sales opportunities.

    Significant experience in a similar sales role within the industry; plumbing and heating knowledge is essential.
  • Experience of selling into the social housing, new build and commercial sectors; an individual who has key relationships within these sectors would be desirable.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets on a regular basis.
  • Proven track record of delivering against KPI's.
  • Previous experience with strategic planning and target implementation would be advantageous.
  • Experience in CRM management would be advantageous.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills; organising appointments in advance to maximise productivity and to make full use of your time. Being well prepared and presented and prompt for all appointments.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Dynamic individual who can maintain and develop lasting relationships and drive team performance.
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence at all levels.
  • Energetic with a strong work ethic and drive.
  • A willingness to work unsociable hours, ie evenings and weekends.
  • Confident in all Office 365 applications.
  • A full driving licence.
