Full Job Description

You will be working as part of a team of 4 specialists in Trade Marks, reporting into the Legal Director. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced solicitor and/or trade mark attorney with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trade mark and design law, including prosecution of trade mark/design applications around the world, trade mark registry proceedings and litigation.

The key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Manage and prosecute trade mark and design applications, oppositions and revocation actions

  • Provide strategic advice on trade mark portfolio management, including advising on international filing strategies and working with overseas attorneys

  • Represent clients in trade mark disputes before the relevant authorities and courts

  • Conduct and analyse trade mark searches and provide opinions on registrability and infringement risks

  • Draft and negotiate intellectual property-related agreements, such as coexistence agreements and license agreements

  • Advise clients on intellectual property aspects of commercial transactions and provide due diligence support

  • Ideally, have experience in advising in connection with online brand protection, including drafting domain name dispute complaints under the UDRP and Nominet's DRS

  • Keep up-to-date with changes in trade mark law and practice and advise clients accordingly

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing high-quality, technically accurate and commercially focused legal advice

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Branding Group and across the business.

    A qualified solicitor or chartered trade mark attorney or a dual qualified solicitor/trade mark attorney with a minimum of 3 years PQE

  • Strong academic background in law

  • Proven track record in prosecution of trade mark/design applications around the world, trade mark registry proceedings and litigation

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Commercially astute with a client-focused approach

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
