Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Burns nurse to join our team as trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (TACP). The TACP will be working in a very busy regional specialist burns service and will demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and be able to work effectively with the MDT . You will demonstrate a passion for this speciality and strive to deliver excellent care to patients , working closely with other members of the burns MDT. The TACP will also have enthusiasm to maintain and improve their knowledge and skills and a willingness to educate and develop other health care professionals caring for burns patients. The TACP will also play a key role in providing assessing new major burns injury patients, oversight of burns patients within the burns service. They will be involved in care to our patients and will be expected to drive standards of care and innovation and support education, research and audit.
The TACP will be supported by trained ACPs and members of the medical team during your training. You must undertake a Masters' level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice, which will incorporate the independent prescriber module. The successful post holders will attend university 20% of their working week and 80% clinically in the workplace during term-time. The TACP will be expected to develop across the 4 pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, education, research and leadership/management.
The post holder will undertake a 2 year Masters programme in Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) to enable them to enable them to work towards independent autonomous clinical practice as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. The Masters programme consists of a combination of university and work-based learning. As part of the programme, the post holder will be released for a designated period, to successfully complete their study in preparation for their future Advanced Clinical Practitioner role.
The areas for the post holder to complete work based learning in will be discussed and agreed upon successful appointment and will be related to the specific competencies required to meet the needs of the service. Successful completion of the programme and development as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner requires engagement in all aspects of the Masters programme.
The post holder will be allocated a mentor who may be a Doctor or an Advanced Practitioner. This is to ensure successful achievement of the clinical skills required to fulfil the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner in their specified area of work and also to meet the needs of the Masters programme. The trainee will be identifiable in their new role as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in training.
