Full Job Description

To gain relevant acute, clinical experience you will rotate within Core Clinical Services, spending time in anaesthetics, recovery, Nightingale Ward, and the Sedation Team. On successful completion of the course, you will work full-time within the Recovery and Woodpecker/Nightingale wards.
The unit is committed to the training and development of staff and each individual is supported by the ANP, CNS's and Practice Educator.
Woodpecker ward is our pre-operative admissions ward where patients are admitted and prepared for theatre. Once the patient goes to theatre they are returned, post-op, to the inpatient wards throughout the hospital for overnight stays.
Nightingale ward is our day case ward where patients will be admitted, prepared for theatre and then returned to the ward to complete their post-op recovery before being discharged later the same day., + To assist the health care team in providing a friendly child centred environment for children and families.
+ To contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and management of patient care within the Recovery unit and same day admission and day case wards. The individual must provide a patient centred approach and will be expected to uphold and maintain high standards of care to ensure an efficient service with optimal patient satisfaction.
+ To provide a reassuring welcome to the child and their family on arrival.
+ To run effective telephone clinics, contacting carers for day case assessments, proving fasting information etc.
+ To assist the registered practitioners and multi-disciplinary team in ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered to patients during their perioperative stay through to discharge from radiology recovery.

You will start as a Band 3 and be promoted to a Band 4 on successful completion of the ATP course.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Advanced Theatre Practitioner to join the teams in Recovery/Woodpecker & Nightingale wards at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), caring for patients from admission through to discharge and working with children of all ages and specialities.

The recruitment process for all admin and clerical roles at Bands 2-4 will be a two stage recruitment process whereby shortlisted candidates will undertake an online literacy, numeracy, ICT and typing test. Only those candidates who pass the competency test will proceed to a formal interview.
