Full Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Biomedical Scientist to join the Virology department at North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology service. You must be a strong team player who has a positive attitude to change. You must have excellent organisational and communication skills. The successful applicant will work as part of a team of virology staff based at the Royal Stoke University Hospital site.
The Infection Science Department at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and clinical services for two acute Hospitals, local GUM clinics and a wide range of community based health providers.
We also provide laboratory services to GPs and wider service users in the surrounding area. The Virology department is equipped with Roche Cobas 801, Roche Cobas 8800, Diasorin Liaison XL, Biomerieux Vidas, Cepheid GeneXpert and GeneXpert Infinity. The hours of work for this post will be 37.5 hours per week over a 24/7 period. Applicants will be expected to have significant virology experience preferably in an NHS Lab., 1. Having an IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree or equivalent is essential. HCPC registration is not essential, but is desirable. Should the successful candidate not have HCPC registration, we will support an IBMS registration portfolio within the 12 months term of the contract.
