We are pleased to share this exciting opportunity for experienced Midwives to join our Community Midwifery teams caring for women and families at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. This role will involve working as part of our team of dedicated and enthusiastic Community Midwives delivering exceptional maternity care in a range of community settings. You will join a committed and experienced team of community midwives who also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team. Within this Trust we deliver maternity care to 6000 women. Main duties of the job It is an exciting time for our service and we would love you to join our team of midwives and help us to shape our services to support women's choice in place of birth. We offer a comprehensive orientation package, covering all aspects of our service.You will have the support from our friendly team of Midwives throughout this period and beyond. You will need to have completed a preceptorship programme and have achieved Midwifery competencies such as cannulation,water birth and suturing. We operate an on-call system for community midwifery which you will be required to participate in. Each community team is supported by an experienced team lead and the teams work in close conjunction with the stand-alone Birth Centres at Maidstone and Crowborough,so there is opportunity to gain experience in these environments as well.

  • RM and eligible to practice.
  • Evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills.
  • Desirable criteria
  • To have obtained or be studying at diploma level.
  • Experience Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge of recent Government / Professional documents with awareness of implications to service provision.
  • Able to demonstrate motivation to maintain professional development.
  • Ability to work within acute and primary health care settings
  • Desirable criteria
  • Previous community and hospital experience.
  • Ability to use flexible innovative approaches to practice tailored to meet the clients' individual needs.
  • Knowledge of change management theories and their impact.
  • Knowledge Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Act as mentor to both qualified midwives and students encouraging evidence based practice.
  • Ability to exercise professional accountability and autonomy.

  • Able to recognise own limitations in order to seek advice appropriately.

  • A working knowledge of quality assurance.
