Full Job Description

We are pleased to be able to offer two 'CBT for Personality Disorder' training posts in BCHFT, Mental Health Division, planned care services. These are full time, band 6, training posts that are open to any qualified mental health worker (eg nurse, AHP, SW) who is professionally registered and working at band 6 or above.

The roles are funded by NHSE for 2 years at the training grade and, during this time, the successful candidates will undertake CBT training via University College London (1 - 2 days per week) whilst also working in either the Wolverhampton OR Walsall CMHTs in BCHFT on the non university days., You will undertake core CBT training in your first year of the UCL course and will practice your skills in one of our CMHT services. We have 4 locality CMHTs but these 2 training posts are offered specifically across either Wolverhampton or Walsall services. In year 2 of the UCL course you will focus more on application of CBT skills with people who have a diagnosis of Personality Disorder and who may have childhood trauma and present with risk.

In order to successfully complete the Post graduate diploma you will need to have a strong interest in, and aptitude for, academic study and work. You will need to be able to balance academic and NHS based work and have a good system for time management.

BCHFT has been building psychological skills in non psychology practitioners for several years and you will join a community where several nurses and AHPs have already successfully completed DBT training and where a number of non psychology staff are employed in other trainee CBT roles (eg for working with psychosis). As such, there is experience in house related to supporting people through these training posts and we have learned lessons to smooth the process from prior experience.

This is the first time that we have had the opportunity to employ CBT PD trainees in the Trust and we are excited to be doing this at a time when we are embedding newly integrated Community services (post transformation) in the MH Division.

The MH Division is the largest of the 4 clinical Divisions (OA, LD and CYP being the others) and contains a number of diverse services including Urgent care, Planned care, Talking Therapies, Specialist Services and Clinical Health Psychology.
