Full Job Description

This training role is based within the new Anxiety and Depression in Young People (AnDY) Research Clinic in Oxford. The Clinic is a collaboration between Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, University of Oxford, and University of Reading.
The postholder will work within community CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality, brief, outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties (anxiety and depression), under supervision.
The academic course and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service. The university will provide training in the evidence based low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy interventions for children, young people and their families, whilst the service will provide the clinical work required to pass the course.
The postholder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the university and work in the service for the remaining days of the week.
The postholder will be flexible in meeting the needs of the service by carrying out clinical work across the county (as the service requires) and may need to travel to other bases to attend supervision with colleagues.
Please note that we may close this vacancy early should we receive sufficient applications., In this role you will conduct person centred assessments using digital technology or face to face and will determine the best course of treatment for individuals with the support and guidance of experienced supervisors. Working under supervision you will provide high volume, low intensity evidence based psychological interventions, including guided self-help and group work, within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust's policies and procedures.
Keeping records of clinical activity, collecting outcome measures and patient evaluations are core to this role.
Alongside the clinical work you will attend the University of Reading CWP Training programme to complete the academic and clinical requirements of this course.

Clinical
1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the services
2. Assess and support young people with a common mental health problem, with or without comorbid long term physical health conditions, in the self-management of their recovery.
3. Undertake child and young person-centered assessments which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
4. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service
referral protocols, and refer unsuitable young people on to the relevant service/back to the referral agent as necessary or step-up the person's treatment to high intensity therapy
5. Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low - intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self - help, and information about psychological and pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.
6. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.
7. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
8. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
9. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
10. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols
11. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
12. Assess and integrate any issues surrounding school into the overall therapy process
13. Communicate to other health and social care professional's pertinent information regarding clients' treatment when appropriate and within the boundaries of client confidentiality.
Professional
1. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by NHS England, NICE and other relevant bodies. Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
2. Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the field of treatment for common mental health problems, with and without comorbid long term physical health conditions.
3. Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed, and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
4. Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with manager.
5. Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.
6. Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.
7. Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
