We currently have an exciting employment opportunity for a Junior/trainee mechanical services estimator who is looking to join a well-established, market-leading air-conditioning and mechanical engineering company that will offer you a stable working environment, great development and training opportunities to support your career progression through the business. You will represent our company, its vision and guiding principles whilst supporting senior estimating staff in the calculation of material quantity and labour requirements, gathering and preparing routine estimating data and compiling information for use in bid proposals and estimates.Duties & Job Description

  • The position will be office based with some on site duties.
  • Preparing preliminary budget costs through to detailed written proposals for projects of varying size and complexity, tasks will include material take offs from drawings or bills of quantities, studying specifications, material pricing, labour costs and equipment.
  • Submit estimates, proposals and preferred / predefined subcontractor costings to the project management team.
  • Work closely with the estimating and contracts team.
  • Research prior estimating data from various sources including purchase orders, subcontractors and productivity analysis reports etc.
  • Compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedents for future job estimates.
  • Work with and create strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to value engineer price options.
  • Have a working knowledge of material and equipment costs.
  • Participate in design, progress meetings and client presentations as and when required.

    Capable of using computer software particularly micro soft office, with the ability to create and work with spreadsheets.
  • The candidate should be numerate, with the proven ability to communicate well in written and verbal situations.
  • Self-motivated and confident with the ability to bond well with teammates.
  • The role will require the candidate to be a good problem solver and negotiator, have strong planning and organisational skills and who can work well under pressure.
