Full Job Description

As a Trainee Operative, you'll work on both rural and urban roads, repairing damaged surfaces and ensuring pathways and roads are safe for vehicles and pedestrians. Using hand and power tools, as well as pedestrian plant machinery, your work could involve:

  • Repairing potholes and damaged road surfaces.
  • Reinstating and replacing pavements, kerbs, and street ironworks.
  • Laying new road surfaces.
  • You'll work as part of a supportive team while gaining hands-on experience and completing a Level 2 Highways Skilled Operative Apprenticeship during your first two years of training.Role Responsibility In this role, you'll:
  • Monitor and comply with all Health & Safety policies, including CRH's Life Saving Rules.
  • Attend daily briefings and toolbox talks, adopting a proactive approach to Health & Safety.
  • Minimise the environmental impact of our operations.
  • Represent the company positively, being polite and courteous to clients and the public.
  • Follow instructions from the team leader to ensure safe and efficient working practices.
  • Act responsibly on-site and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • Participate in training courses and strive to develop your skills and knowledge and use of machinery and plant. For example; steel saws, rollers and dumpers
  • You will be given full manual handling training and helped to obtain NRSWA Accreditation.
  • Undertake all assigned tasks to the best of your ability.
