Full Job Description

Would you like to develop your skill and support the next generation of Electricians? We are delighted to launch this exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and forward-thinking College to support our electrical apprentices' journey.

Formal Qualification

  • Level 3 or above qualification in a relevant subject area

  • Teaching qualification or willingness to obtain designated teaching qualification within specified time.

  • Maths and English qualification to Level 2 or higher.

  • Certificate in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment or willingness to work towards.

  • Evidence of regular industry update training and certification

  • Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice (CLIQA) or willingness to work towards.


  • Knowledge:
  • An in-depth and practical knowledge of relevant subject.

  • Relevant, successful experience of instructing, training or teaching.

  • Knowledge of issues affecting Further Education.

  • Knowledge of current apprenticeship standards and associated qualification structures.


  • Experience:
  • Extensive experience as a commercial installation, maintenance or domestic electrician

  • Ability to develop students' employability, life and learning skills to satisfy College and employer needs.


  • Skills:
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to be ambitious for themselves and to attain to their highest level.

  • Skills, knowledge and understanding to teach a range of subjects and qualification levels.

  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of students on both theoretical and practical aspects.

  • Ability to use ILT facilities to support student learning and effectively maintain course management.

  • Good organisational and administrative skills

  • Able to work with Learner Support to support students learning

  • Able to manage an instructor/technician (where appropriate).

  • Ability to plan and prepare innovative apprenticeship training plans, schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment schedules which motivate students to achieve, Ability to demonstrate College values, beliefs and behaviours suitable to work with children and young people.

  • Ability to manage and promote positive student behaviour.

  • Able to reflect on own practice, evaluate and adapt as and when required.

  • Excellent communicator who can build positive and collaborative relationships with others.

  • Prepared to be actively involved in the development of courses.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Able to work under pressure with changing priorities.

  • Demonstrable commitment to Diversity, Equality, Wellbeing & Inclusion; Child Protection; Safeguarding and Prevent; showing a desire to challenge and adhere to College Policies and Procedures.

  • Able to interpret course data and identify strengths and areas for improvement

  • Pass on their up to date vocational knowledge and expertise to apprentices in classroom, workshop and site settings, so that apprentices develop the best technical, employability, life and learning skills.

  • Working 37 hours per week / 52 weeks per year the successful candidates will be based at our Aylesbury Campus and travel around Buckinghamshire and neighbouring counties to support our apprentices to meet employers, assess apprentices' skills and support them to reach their full potential.

    Salary - Up to £33,619.00 per annum plus a substantial Industry Sector Payment of £10,000.00.
