Full Job Description

We have exciting opportunities within Network Rail High Speed for 2 x Training & Competence Managers (TCM’s), one based in London, aligned to the Operations and Stations teams and one based at Singlewell Gravesend, aligned to our Maintenance and Infrastructure teams, though you will be expected to work together, and cross functional for some activities. This role reports into the Head of Training & Professional Development in the HR team. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing routes to competence by producing role profiles that support functional training requirements and competence Standards.
  • Manage the training and development provision for NR(HS), including core skills, behaviour, leadership and development, identifying and establishing improvements to current training programmes.
  • Develop competence standards, collaborating with functional areas to coordinate production and implementation processes.
  • Manage competence criteria in the NR(HS) competence management, IT, system in line with role profiles, assessment criteria and competence Standards.
  • Manage and support training planners with training demand.
  • Support assessors in the business for compliance and assurance activity.
  • Support the Head of Training & Professional Development deliver a professional, holistic, competence management system for NR(HS).

    Expertise and experience of training and competence, coordinating front-line, leadership and management training.
  • An appreciation of a competence management, IT, system
  • Experience with document production, reporting and analysis.
  • Leadership and hands-on management skills developed in a fast-moving safety environment.
  • Although it isn’t essential, it would be helpful if you have railway experience – and if you have line management experience – even better!
