Our ESG Finance Team has been described by peers as "really strong and market leading" (Legal 500, 2024). We help our clients to deliver some of the most innovative transactions in the UK, each tackling wider environmental and social challenges that the UK faces (from decarbonisation, to the shortfall in social housing).
Our team is split between our Leeds, London and Manchester offices, though for these roles we are specifically looking for great colleague in Leeds and/or Manchester.
Our ESG Finance Team is predominantly funder focussed – you will work with lenders and investors who (at both an institutional and individual level) are also passionate about using finance to support, fund and drive changes which meet sustainability challenges. Our clients include HSBC, Lloyds Bank plc, Goldman Sachs, Santander, ABN AMRO and UKIB.
Our ESG Team, whilst separate, sits alongside our ESG Finance Team. In addition to funders, our ESG Team advises key clients on some of the most ground-breaking ESG related advisory or transactional work. Our clients include: United Nations Global Compact, NATO, Science Based Targets Initiative, Museum of Natural History, TNFD, UKSIF, many globally recognised brands along with UK Government departments (including, in relation to the latter, undertaking ESG legal due diligence on major government investments).
A key colleague within, and co-lead of, our ESG Team is David Alfrey, who was recently awarded the Paul Watchman Young ESG Lawyer (globally) at the Legal ESG Summit., Addleshaw Goddard is a place where you are valued, encouraged, and challenged to fulfil your potential in a supportive and collegiate environment. Our culture of improvement, growth and collaboration delivers results, drives innovation, and rewards ambition.

We not only provide technical excellence and experience but, crucially, demonstrate real insight into our clients and what really matters to them and as such we are natural choice for FTSE100 clients and their equivalents in other markets.

Our success has been built by people from the widest range of backgrounds, locations, and perspectives. We have a number of employee networks that provide space to discuss the differences that make us who we are and celebrate this at AG.
