Full Job Description
The BT Group Transformation Planning team is part of the Strategy & Change (S&C) Unit led by the Chief S&C Officer, which in turn is part of the BT Group Corporate Units. One of the primary objectives of the Group S&C team is to accelerate and enhance the delivery of the transformation goals. In support of this the objectives of the Group Transformation Planning team are to:
- Secure commitment to the baseline roadmap for approach, milestones, timeline, dependencies, cost and benefit, quality and risk
- Ensure transformation is fully funded (capex, opex and specifics) and provide oversight to investment decisions that impact the Group Transformation Portfolio
- Ensure that actual or potential deviations from the baseline roadmap, benefits and scope are controlled
- Optimise performance and contractual relationships with 3rd party suppliers that support transformation related activities and systems. The role works closely with the Senior Manager Transformation Planning - Financial, Group colleagues and unit transformation teams to deliver the financial, change, reporting and decision discipline necessary to drive successful delivery of Transformation. Key elements of the role include: Reporting & Decisions
- Assist in tracking and reporting the progress of the Transformation, including delivery and outcomes.
- Gather and consolidate information from various units to create insights for the ExCo and Board.
- Support the continual improvement of reporting processes and adapt to changes in the lifecycle.
- Help identify and consolidate decisions needed to sustain or enhance the transformation plan.
- Coordinate with relevant bodies to shape and schedule decisions and communicate these to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the planning team to ensure plans are updated to reflect decisions taken. Finance & Change
- Assist in developing and maintaining a Transformation forecast for benefits and costs, including capex, opex, and specific costs.
- Support the optimisation of tracking mechanisms, transitioning from MS Office to system-based dashboards.
- Help develop an impact assessment module for scenario modelling of changes to transformation priorities.
- Participate in capital investment planning to ensure necessary funding is allocated for transformation commitments.
- Assist in implementing and running a change control mechanism to ensure informed decisions are made regarding changes to the Transformation plan or scope.
- Communicate changes to stakeholders and ensure plans are updated accordingly. Benefits

- Support the handover of benefit realisation from the program to BAU teams when appropriate.
Ability to work effectively within a team, supporting and learning from senior members - Understanding of project management principles with strength in reporting, benefits and change control
- Financially adept with strong skills in data analysis to create insightful reports
- Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with team members and stakeholders
- Adept at dealing with changing priorities and keen to learn new skills
- Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and escalate them appropriately
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in relevant programme and portfolio software and tools The experience you'll have
- Experience of working on transformation programmes in multiple industries, in particular cost efficiency programmes and business operation simplification
- Good understanding of the technology and telco sector
- Experience of inputting into, and the financial analysis of, transformation plans, including capex and opex allocations and timings
- Experience of contributing to the delivery of reporting, decision management, benefits management and change control on complex, multi-year programmes
- Worked in a range of PMO, Portfolio and Project manager roles, preferably involving multi-year initiatives, with responsibilities for control processes
