The post holder will be required to be flexible and move between the transport sites of the Trust at The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital and Salford Royal Foundation Trust as the needs of the service dictate.

+ Must have a pleasant manner and be able to communicate with other members of staff and the general public.
+ To have detailed knowledge of and observe all regulations governing the driving and use of vehicles on the public highway.
+ To undertake daily checks as directed to ensure that the vehicle to be driven.
+ Complies with the requirements of the law and is in running order and report any defects to the Transport Supervisor or Transport Manager
+ To carry out specific scheduled and ad-hoc duties as requested by Manager, Transport Coordinator and Linen services or allocated by the Facilities Helpdesk
+ To be aware of and comply with the rules regarding the safe handling and carriage of medical records, pathology specimens, bloods, controlled drugs and stationery also potentially hazardous loads such as infected laundry, oxygen cylinders and liquid nitrogen flasks.
+ Drive Trust vehicles up to 19 tonne Vehicle
+ To be able to priorities own workload as to in which order some jobs need to be done.
+ To comply with the Trust confidentiality rules when delivering to patients addresses and when moving boxes of medical records.
+ Work within the rules and procedures applicable to the transport function.
+ The post holder will be responsible for the safe use of all trust equipment issued to or used by them
+ Be responsible for the adherence to Trust and Departmental policies and procedures.
+ Interaction with all patients and visitors, should be professional and courteous at all times.
+ To maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle in order to avoid cross infection, adhering to the Health and Safety regulations in force.
+ Report immediately any personal or vehicle related accident in which the employee may be involved and follow proceedure.
+ To give details immediately, of any action the police may give notice of their intention to take, against any driver of a vehicle owned or hired by the Trust.
+ Demonstrating duties to new starters in line with work instructions helping them achieve the service needs.
+ To be aware of and comply with the regulations in respect of drivers hours, tachograph charts, keeping of work records and any other records that may be required by the Trust.
+ Follow SOPs / Guidelines to ensure that the department is run in an efficient and safe manner e.g. Health & Safety, Fire Safety, C.O.S.H.H etc.
