Full Job Description

To provide an efficient and effective supporting service to all wards and departments within the hospital and support the delivery of excellent patient care in line with 'The Trusts Main principles.
To provide a full supporting service for a 24 hour, 7 day week facility.( Working as part of a rota system). Undertaking the following duties, · Perform both collection and Delivery duties in relation to Specimens, Pharmacy items, Patient notes and other items between the Trust and nominated sites.
· Undertake specific laboratory (Blood bank related) procedures associated with 'out of hours' shifts- training will be given.
· Collect specimens and other adhoc items from The Trust and deliver them to Pathology Reception.(The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham) This may also include urgent X-rays, notes and items of equipment.to other Local Healthcare Providers( Birmingham Children's Hospital - Moseley Hall Hospital).
· Collect & Deliver urgent blood or blood products for transfusion to designated storage fridges within the Trust (Theatres) and return unused units directly to the Blood Transfusion Department. (University Hospitals Birmingham).
