Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Transport and Fleet Manager to join our Waste and Recycling Team, to manage the maintenance, compliance and procurement of the fleet for all of Thanet District Council.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role, and be able to work alongside the other departments to ensure that the residents of Thanet are given the best service possible and the fleet is completely compliant.

Ensuring that all operations in relation to the fleet are done so in a safe and compliant manner
Responsibility for the Workshop and Maintenance budget
Line management responsibility for the workshop staff
Lead on procurement of vehicles for all departments within the Council
Undertake and document regular checks on the fleet to ensure that they are compliant and roadworthy
Lead on any contact with the Traffic Commissioner
Main Tasks

Monitoring and ensuring compliance with maintenance scheduling
Engagement with staff to ensure that drivers are complying with both the law and industry best practice
Look to increase efficiency in vehicle maintenance and purchasing
Organising and planning annual DCPC courses, to make sure that they are relevant and productive
Work with the waste and recycling team to increase their awareness on fleet legislation and training
Promote continuous improvement to help implement new working arrangements and/or vehicle purchases to improve the service delivery
