This is an exciting time to join Royal Mail as we're in the process of transforming towards a parcel led business. At the heart of this will be our National Distribution operation who move our parcels across a vast network throughout the UK. As a Transport Office Manager, you'll facilitate the effective running of our traffic office at the Bridgend Hub.

What does the role involve?
Reporting to the Distribution Manager, as a Traffic Office Manager you will support and inspire a front-line team of 20+ drivers of large goods vehicles (7.5tn and above). You'll professionalise distribution, ensuring operational work plans are achieved and that our pipeline optimises the flow of parcels and mail, while maintaining compliance with business policies, national work plan and Standard Operating Procedures.

In your role you will deliver results and a better service to our customers through your team by demonstrating trust in all colleagues. Using your excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, you will build effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. You will achieve this working closely alongside our trade union representatives, by working together and delivering a great service every day, we can provide a first class customer experience.

Attendance - Monday to Friday 22:00 - 06:12. A degree of flexibility is required to meet operational demands.

As this is an extremely interesting and varied role, we are looking for candidates who are flexible, can work under pressure and possess excellent leadership and communication skills. As part of the management team within the business, you must demonstrate evidence on your CV of the following:

  • Managing and supporting a large team to maximise performance (essential)

  • CPC licence holder or willing to study towards (essential)

  • Experience from a logistics/parcel distribution background would be beneficial

  • Experience of using telematics/tracker devices (vision) to monitor drivers hours

  • People skills, good communication skills, able to engage and motivate team members to work to high standards.

  • Target focused with a track record of improving performance and achieving KPIs

  • Experience of introducing change/improvements and successfully supporting people through change

  • Data analysis and problem solving - ability to use data to identify trends in performance and then develop solutions/make improvements

  • Relationships, able to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders to achieve business benefits
