Full Job Description

Are you passionate about optimising transport networks and ensuring the seamless delivery of goods in a fast-paced environment? At Best Food Logistics, we are looking for an experienced and driven Transport Planner to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, refining, and implementing strategies to improve the efficiency of our transport operations. Your focus will be on enhancing the utilisation of our vehicle fleet, ensuring timely deliveries, and maximising operational efficiency across fresh, frozen, and ambient goods.

Working alongside our Operations Team, you will manage the day-to-day route planning for multiple distribution centres, ensuring our logistics run smoothly. If you enjoy working in a dynamic, solutions-driven environment and have a keen eye for detail, this role could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The role operates on a five-day shift pattern across a five-week rotation, covering Sunday to Friday. You will be required to work two Sundays within every five-week period. Monday to Friday shifts run from 10:00 to 18:30, with the Sunday shift running from 08:30 to 17:00.

You will oversee and adjust daily transport routes, ensuring deliveries run on time while maximising vehicle capacity and reducing wasted resources. Your goal will be to achieve delivery performance targets of over 92% while maintaining a strong focus on service excellence.

A key part of your role will involve supporting the full re-planning process, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing improvements. By analysing performance data, you will review planned routes against actual order volumes on a daily basis and make necessary adjustments to maintain high efficiency.

Ensuring that all routes adhere to legal and business regulations will be essential, and you will take responsibility for balancing compliance with vehicle efficiency and service targets. You will also work closely with the Operations teams to develop transport solutions that address both short-term operational challenges and long-term strategic goals. This role will require a flexible, problem-solving mindset as you manage unexpected route changes or delivery issues on a daily basis.

It is essential that you have at least one year of experience using Paragon transport planning software, ideally in a current or recent role. You will need to take a highly organised, methodical approach to your work, paying close attention to detail throughout the planning process.

A strong command of IT skills, especially MS Excel, will be important, with the ability to analyse data and present clear, actionable insights. You will need excellent communication skills, as you will regularly liaise with teams and stakeholders, presenting information clearly and confidently.

Working to strict deadlines is a key part of the job, and you should be comfortable taking ownership of tasks and delivering them efficiently. You will also need to be a team player, building and maintaining strong working relationships within a small, close-knit team.
