Full Job Description

At Gregory Distribution, we are currently seeking a Transport Planner - Days in our busy Coalville Depot. This position involves complete planning and scheduling for the Coalville operation and ensuring that the customer's requirements are met. The position of Transport Planner involves :

  • Planning and organising the activities of the Transport Operation, including the transition between the customers' peak and off-peak activity periods.
  • Meeting on a regular basis with Transport Managers to ensure that we are operating efficiently.
  • Identifying and developing additional areas where we can add value to existing contracts.
  • Liaising with the warehouse to ensure that trailers and vehicles are available when required.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers with regards to the night operation.
  • Ensuring that vehicle activity is planned in the most efficient manner.
  • Ensuring that all contracted work is covered in line with customer expectations.
  • Ensuring that all drivers are fully debriefed at the end of the shift.
  • Meeting daily revenue targets per shift per vehicle.
  • Communicating collection times and delivery bookings with customers.
  • Adherence to policies and procedures within the Business Area.
  • Ensuring that our TMS system is updated and monitored.
  • Company Safe Systems of Work must be observed and followed at all times. This includes maintaining standards of personal hygiene, as detailed in SSOW and Company Rules Book, especially wearing of uniform and PPE at all times.

    Previous experience of working within the Transport Warehouse and logistics industry.
  • Have a good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours and WTD's.
  • Leadership Skills.
  • Track record of leading successful change.
  • Proven experience in customer relationship management.
  • Ability to present to Senior Key contacts within the business and to the customer.
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • IT literate including MS Office. Strong analytic ability in review data and reports.

    Salary for Transport Planner is between £28,pa - £30,pa, Depending on Experience.
  • Hours of work are from 14 : 00hrs to 23 : 30hrs, Monday to Friday.
