About the Team Bath and North East Somerset Council is seeking an inspiring and strategic Transport Policy Manager to lead the development and planning of our transport network. This is a pivotal role where you will ensure that our investment and schemes facilitate seamless mobility for our community, while championing a greener, more sustainable transport environment. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the transport landscape in Bath and North East Somerset. You will work in a collaborative environment, fostering innovation and sustainability while shaping the future of transport in our region., As Transport Policy Manager, you will :
- Oversee the development and planning of our transport network, focusing on enhancing accessibility for work, leisure, and education while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of travel.
- Formulate and implement transport strategies and policies that align with the council's objectives and national guidelines.
- Provide empowering leadership to the transport team, ensuring efficient resource use and strong partnerships with stakeholders.
- Engage with the community to embed their needs and insights into transport planning, fostering support for innovative transport solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead a dynamic team in identifying and assessing transport schemes, creating strategic business cases for funding.
- Advocate for the council's interests in regional transport projects, maintaining robust partnerships with the West of England Combined Authority and other stakeholders.
- Manage complex projects and ensure effective stakeholder engagement throughout the transport planning process.
- Provide expert advice to senior managers and elected officials, representing the council in various forums and consultations.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in transport policy development and project management. - The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and promote a culture of inclusivity in transport planning.
- A passion for sustainability and a deep understanding of climate and ecological challenges related to transport.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in public engagement and advocacy.
