Full Job Description
As a Product Architect in the Transport domain at Wincanton you will be responsible for IT solution design, product selection, requirements gathering, supporting commercial customer proposals, and supporting the implementation of defined IT solutions. You will be comfortable leading and defining effective business and IT solutions within complex project environments, demonstrating the maturity to build strong working relationships across Business, IT and 3rd party Stakeholders.
The Product architect also provides leadership, analysis and design related to the development of Wincanton's product architecture, creating deliverables that help develop a direction for managing the portfolio of "as is" and "to be" products for Transport., · IT solution design in the Transport domain including:
· Supporting and driving requirements gathering and process mapping
· Product selection
· Integration design between both internal and customer/3rd party systems.
· Drive the definition of the solution design and associated costing, mapping business and technical requirements to define a service that meets both business and operational expectations.
· Providing consulting support to business and IT leaders.
· Support project delivery to ensure projects are aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
· Documentation of all domain architecture design and analysis work.
· Actively participate in the full project lifecycle from early shaping of high-level estimates and delivery plans through to active governance of the solution as it is developed and built in later phases.
· Work closely with the program management office (PMO) and implementation team to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.
· Provide architectural governance of in-project solution change requests.
· Design and lead the implementation of a product domain architecture based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements.
· Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
· Analyse the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
· Define the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
· Design and direct the governance activities associated with ensuring solutions architecture assurance and compliance.
· Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the domain product portfolio and application lifecycle from future to current state.
· Provide portfolio subject matter expertise - supporting both IT and other Wincanton functions in deriving maximum value from the existing portfolio and in ensuring the suitability and efficacy of proposed changes.
· Ensure compliance with Wincanton strategy, policies and architecture principles and legislative requirements.
Typical deliverables and outputs include:
· High and low-level solution design documentation.
· Requirement documentation/modelling (e.g. templated requirement definition, traceability matrices).
· Solution related risks, issues, and assumptions.
· Product strategy documents and supporting roadmaps.
· Increasing standardisation in IT solutions.
· Developing a library of template solution costing resources.
· Improving views of Domain Architecture landscape: Baseline, Target, and Interim architectures. Suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.

· Demonstrated experience in Application/Solution Architecture and delivery, with a strong background in the practical use, design, and deployment of large-scale applications.
· Experience in logistics and supply chain technologies and implementations.
· Experience in the following technologies/solutions will be beneficial:
Ortec ORD and OIR,Aptean Routing & Scheduling/Paragon, Civica TranSend Delivery Management, Mulesoft, Seeburger
· Experience of working in a pipeline driven architectural function.
· Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
· Excellent analytical and technical skills.
· Excellent communication and influencing skills to effectively manage designs/solution architects working across multiple projects and teams.
· Knowledge of structured methodologies e.g. COBIT, TOGAF, ITIL.
· Understanding of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
· Past accountability for major project solution design from inception through to implementation.
· Commercial acumen, to recognise the importance of the value proposition in solution design.
· Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
· A proven ability to translate business objectives into technical requirements for internal or external delivery.
· A demonstrable understanding of the tools and techniques used to integrate disparate applications and services.
· Ability to travel inside the UK.
· Ability to communicate, influence and persuade peers.
· Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
· Ability to propose and estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
· Proven ability to work well with others.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
