Full Job Description
To maintain passenger comfort while providing transport to and from Special Educational Schools and Day Centres. Providing care, responsive and effective support whilst driving passengers with physical, mental and /or development disabilities.,
- Ability to ensure the vehicle is fit for the route to be undertaken and complies with the department maintenance programme. Ensuring that the daily 1st use check is completed, and that the tail lift is correctly operated. That all wheelchairs are secured properly and in compliance with training provided.
- Ability to liaise with both Passenger Assistant, parents/carers and other professional people you come in contact with, reporting any issues/ concerns to the office as soon as possible.
- Comply with the principles of standard infection control protocols at all time to prevent the spread of infection.
- Must hold full UK driving licence with a D1 category (cat. D desirable).
- This role requires manual handling of people such as pushing wheelchairs, supporting ambulant passengers with mobility issues, support passengers while using vehicle tail lift, securing wheelchairs on board of the vehicle. - A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
