Full Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and committed Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics with an interest in Hip & Revision Hip Arthroplasty and peri-prosthetic fracture management, to join the team at the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bury St Edmunds.The individual appointed to the post will have completed general orthopaedic training including general on call trauma, and have completed or be undertaking a Fellowship in Hip and Revision Hip Arthroplasty surgery. We are an innovative department who work well together and are looking for someone to join our team. The role will involve participating in the on-call rota (currently 1:10) covering DGH level trauma. This post will involve cross site working, as we join our ICS colleagues in utilisation of the Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC) in Colchester (due to open October 2024).,

  • Provision of Trauma and Orthopaedic services, to the highest clinical standards in particular to lead in the development of a subspecialist service in Hip and Revision Hip Arthroplasty.
  • To share with colleagues' responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department.
  • Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students, para-medical practitioners.
  • To participate actively in both Departmental and Trust Clinical Governance and Audit.
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME), appraisal and revalidation
