Full Job Description

1-3 hours / week Board meetings and Committee meetings are held once a quarter in person - times and dates are reviewed to ensure we meet the needs of all Trustees., In November 2024, our current Treasurer will be stepping down and we are therefore seeking to recruit a Trustee with finance experience to join the Board and take on the role of Treasurer and Company secretary. The role of Treasurer is essential in ensuring that we appropriately manage our financial position, that we are compliant with our statutory financial reporting requirements, that strategic plans are financially appraised and that budgets are aligned to both our short and long-term plans. Purpose of the role:

  • to ensure that the financial affairs of the organisation are conducted within legal requirements, accounting conventions and good practice.
  • to monitor the financial administration of the Charity, and report to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health, in line with good practice, and in compliance with the governing document and legal requirements. This to provide the Board with the confidence and knowledge to better make strategic decisions.
  • to ensure that proper financial policies, records, and procedures are in place and are maintained through financial controls and through monitoring their effectiveness., We recruit and train volunteers to support families, by offering emotional and practical support, in their own homes, over the phone and in groups to build the confidence, skills and strength of parents to nurture their children. We also offer wellbeing support and behaviour support to families to enable them to move forward. This supportive model is a simple yet effective way of enabling families to get back on track and to help children get the best start in life.
  • The Treasurer and Board of Trustees oversee the running of the organisation and ensure it is healthy, secure and compliant with all financial conventions, requirements, legislation and good practice. This enables the staff and volunteers to deliver the vital services to our communities and families in need.

  • Accountancy / Auditing
  • Bookkeeping
  • Financial management
  • General / operations management, Proven experience as a Treasurer, Financial Officer, or related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial accounting, tax regulations, legislation, and best practices.
  • Experience of charity finance and fundraising - desirable but not essential.
  • Strategic financial planning skills.
  • Skill to analyse proposals, and to examine their financial consequences.
  • Experience / knowledge of accountancy / financial management software
  • Ability to communicate financial information to those who may have little or no financial background.
