Full Job Description

The main role would be to cover a busy general cardiology ward and cardiology day ward. During your time, you would also be encouraged to attend all areas of the unit, including cardiac theatres, the catheter laboratory and echo department. There is a formal teaching programme specifically for SHOs, as well as registrar teaching within the department. There are also several courses available, which may be prioritised and subsidised for GOSH staff (including the echo and morphology courses). It is possible for a dedicated trainee to learn the basics of clinical echo during these placements. The position would undoubtedly be useful in preparation for an application to paediatric cardiology training at ST4.

Great Ormond Street Hospital invites applicants of ST 2-3 level equivalent for 6-month post in paediatric cardiology. The post would be well-suited - but not limited - to junior doctors-in-training wanting to have a period of out-of-programme experience. It may be possible to count this placement towards your training, dependent on the completion of Level 1 curriculum competencies.
