Trust Doctor Oncology (FY2 / ST1-ST2)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trust Doctor FY2/ST1-ST2 level, to join our Oncology team at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre in Guildford, Surrey. We currently have x1 permanent post and x2 fixed term (12 months) posts available.
We are looking for someone who is interested in Oncology and passionate about caring for our ward based Oncology patients as we increase our bed base within the hospital., · The doctor will be supported by the lead consultant for the ward
· Be responsible for the admission and ongoing care of patients
· Providing diagnosis and treatment for all patients
· Order and organise such tests as are appropriate.
· Complete discharge summaries and communicate with GPs and other clinical colleagues as required.
· Demonstrate flexibility in work practices and cross-cover for colleagues on the inpatient unit as required.
· Liaise between nurses, physician associates, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
· Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled
· Take part in full shift rostered out of hours emergency work (nights and weekends) when orientation is completed and competence assessed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
These are 12 month fixed-term full-time positions and in order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible with full GMC registration.
The successful applicant will be based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford. The post holder will work closely with the current oncology consultant teams to deliver a high level of care as part of the Royal Surrey Cancer centre.
The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
Here at the Cancer centre, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff. You will be joining our team of 27 oncologists, supported by a team of Specialist Registrars, Specialty Doctors, SHOs, AHP's and Specialist Nurses.
